Chancellery was established on 1 December 2000, together with the establishment of the Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia (KUTKM). On 1 February 2007, following a rebranding exercise, the name KUTKM was changed to Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).

In its early years of establishment, Chancellery began its operations at the Technology Campus in Ayer Keroh and in 2008 it shifted to the Main Campus at Hang Tuah Jaya, Durian Tunggal Melaka.

Chancellery functions as the epicenter of the university administration and coordinates the functions of several offices which provide various services to the university community as well as stakeholders.

Chancellery is committed to implementing and delivering services to ensure the vision and mission of the university to emerge as one of the world's leading innovative and creative technical universities in the world, is achieved.

Chancellery consists of the following offices:

  3. Internal Audit Office
  4. Legal Advisor Office
  5. Centre For Smart Enviroment
